The Colorful Journey Painting Is Almost Finished — Just In Time For Spring! 🎉 🥂 🎶
It’s bitter cold here in Ohio, minus four degrees some nights, and I’m longing for warm weather. May the sunny colors in this painting bring warmer days for all of us!
The painting is nearly done, but there’s a small tear at the bottom of the canvas that needs repaired before I can actually complete it. I hope to pull it all together in the coming week. 🤞
I started this painting a few years ago, but didn’t love how it was coming along. So I decided to paint over most of it and let some of the original painting peek through. The colors are similar, but the original composition was made up only of squares. This new painting is softer and prettier than the first one.
Here’s how the canvas looked as the overpainting began. That S-shaped line you see is the charcoal sketch for the new composition.
Working the paint in layers like this creates depth, texture, and interest.
It’s also a reminder of how the past layers of our lives shape our present, a theme I return to again and again.
